True Conversion

Hello!

This week was great. Sister Capson and I get along so well. Our companionship and friendship is better than ever.

We been planning for W's baptism that we are hoping will take place this Saturday. He is doing awesome. We are hoping to get approval from the first presidency before Saturday so we can proceed as planned.  We have already taught him all of the lessons and are so excited to start teaching him the new member lessons.

A is on date for May 30th.  She is the investigator that brought her mom to church with her.  Her mom really liked it and stayed all 3 hours but does not want to take the lessons right now.  A is very excited for her baptism but she is nervous about telling her mom.  She wasn't sure how so we offered to go talk to her mom just to see how she is feeling about A taking the lessons.  So we went and visited with her and offered to teach her too.  She said that she wasn't ready right now but that she really liked the church and plans to take lessons in the future.  We went back and told A and she feels much better about it now.  There is still some apprehension there so please pray for A that she will have the courage to tell her mom that she is getting baptized next week and that everything will go as planned. :)

We were able to teach K this week. He is the guy that is friends with the member of our ward. K is agnostic and this member used to be agnostic as well so she knew exactly how to testify in a way that would resonate with him. We watched the restoration video and he really liked it. We committed him to pray and ask if there is a God. He seemed a little apprehensive, but said he might try it. We are hoping and praying he does.  Please keep him in your prayers as well!

We also had a great lesson with a less-active man named E that we have been teaching for 6 weeks. He is about 25 years old and wants to be sealed to his parents but hasn't been very motivated. Then a couple weeks ago we committed him to read the scriptures every day and for the first time, he did it! So we said, "You have been praying and reading your scriptures and you are on the right track but you need to come to church." The spirit was very strong and told us we should be bold with him.  He really struggles with being fully converted so we taught him from Alma 23 about the Lamanites becoming the Anti-Nephi-Lehis. We especially focused on what it means to "lay down our weapons of war," by repentance and the atonement.

Alma 23:

7- For they became a righteous people; they did lay down the weapons of their rebellion, that they did not fight against God any more, neither against any of their brethren.

8- Now these are they who are converted unto the Lord.

This really spoke to him and he loved it because he could relate it to himself and his situation.

I know that true conversion happens when we repent of our sins and put away those things that hold us back from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We only have room for one master.  We can't allow Satan to persuade our actions and fully follow the Savior at the same time.  Live your life like you are already converted and the spirit will take over and help you get to where you need to be.

I love you all! have a great week!

Love,

Sister Park
